The brief/project
This fine old building, a former Victorian school dating to 1897, was bought by our client in order to perform a full renovation and change-of-use into residential units. LDS were asked to visit and measure the entire building consisting of four floors and full external elevations, as well as carry out a topographic survey of the surrounding roads and services
The solution
Our team of two surveyors carried out this survey using a combination of traditional total station and 3D laser scanners working around the ongoing renovation works. As this was a building of historic and architectural value, full detail was requested, especially on the external elevations where patterns of brickwork and architectural features were of interest
The outcome
Final drawings took five days to complete due to the size of the building and the spec requested. Drawings were provided to the client in digital format, and would form the basis for design work and planning applications, allowing this building to be modernised within its Victorian facade and begin a new chapter in its history
