The brief/project
We are often asked to assist with measuring data for exciting new builds, but occasionally our services are requested for more tragic reasons such as this property devastated by fire. LDS were asked to provide outline plans and measurements of what remained standing so that the process of dealing with insurers and planning the re-build could begin
The solution
Due to the unsafe state of the building and the lack of access to first floor level, the survey was carried out using our laser scanners, allowing the collection of the maximum amount of data from safe locations. The laser scanners measure 1 million points per second, resulting in a wealth of information for use by our drawing team
The outcome
A simple outline floor plan of the standing walls was produced, including heights of standing features. This, together with our viewable scan data, was provided to the client’s architects so that planning and costing could begin for the process of restoring this property to rightful state. Happily, the re-build is now complete and the property is once again a cherished family home
