The brief/project
One of our more unusual projects was to assist with a Guinness World Record attempt to set the record for the world’s longest window cleaning pole. Staff from Harvard Window Cleaning in Bournemouth commissioned a 115ft (35.052m) pole in order to reach the windows of a ten-storey building. LDS were there to lend a hand by verifying the length of the pole
The solution
LDS attended the record attempt with our Trimble SX10 high-precision scanning total station. Once the pole was in place, our surveyor measured its length with the whole operation recorded on video in order for GWR to ratify. Once the measurement was confirmed it was over to the staff at Harvard Window Cleaning to do their bit
The outcome
Using a team of six people to raise the pole, Harvard Window Cleaning managed to clean windows on the tenth floor of an office block. The video and measurements taken by LDS are awaiting GWR’s final confirmation that this is now an official world record. This is LDS’s second involvement in a Guinness World Record
