The brief/project
LDS were commissioned to carry out a full topographic survey of a 4 acre residential plot comprising a large house with outbuildings, mature lawns and garden, steep banking and wooded areas, plus detail on all neighbouring buildings.
The solution
It was decided to collect the data required through a combination of both traditional total station and 3D laser scanner.
Scanning the area was determined to be the most effective way to capture data on the neighbouring properties, and would also have the added benefit of allowing further drawings to be produced of the buildings, should these be required at a later date.
The outcome
After four days of site work to laser scan the grounds and establish GPS and survey control for the survey, 2D CAD drawings were produced and issued, providing the client with a wealth of information about the site and its surroundings. These drawings allowed the client to take their plans to the next stage, confident in the knowledge that their designs were based on accurate data.
