LDS Surveys were appointed to support RIOT Games at the prestigious Accor Arena in Paris for their 2025 international e-sports event. Working as part of the staging and rigging team, our role was to provide accurate on-site mark-out services to ensure the positioning of all equipment for the event was perfect.
The Brief
Our brief was to mark out more than 490 staging and rigging points on the arena floor — including lighting, sound, screens, and stage infrastructure — using the client’s design drawings as a guide.
The Challenges
The project presented several challenges:
- LDS only had a one man team armed with a one-second Trimble S5 total station to carry out the work
- A tight time window, with just a three-hour head start before contractors, equipment and vehicles filled the space.
- A busy live site, requiring constant coordination with multiple teams and trades and the usual hazards that come with it.
- The need for absolute precision, ensuring every point was marked in exactly the right position, correctly colour-coded and labelled for the installation crews.
The Solutions
Our experienced surveyor deployed a Trimble S5 one-second total station to ensure fast and reliable accuracy. By working closely with site managers, we carefully sequenced our mark-out ahead of installation crews, adapting to site conditions and coordinating colour-coded points with clear identification.
The Results
The project was delivered on time, without disruption to the installation teams. Over 490 points were marked precisely to specification, allowing contractors to install staging, rigging and technical systems seamlessly. The result was a world-class event experience — one enjoyed by thousands in the arena and millions watching online — all built on the unseen accuracy of LDS Surveys’ work.
